Pundit Alex Rae has recently talked about Kristoffer Ajer and his potential exit from Celtic this summer.

Rae featured on the latest edition of Clyde Superscoreboard and was asked about potential transfers for Celtic this summer. He gave his views about Ajer and his possible exit from the club, suggesting that it is important for the Hoops to get a deal done for him.

While Celtic are thought to have rejected bids from Norwich City and Bayer Leverkusen for Ajer, the Canaries side are reportedly set to go back in with a £12 million bid for the Norwegian.

Should Celtic sell Ajer for £12 million?

Rae believes that if Celtic get a fee of £12 million for the defender, they should take the money. He said: “I think it’s important to try and get that deal done because he’s made it pretty clear throughout the course of the summer. There was an agreement last year, he stayed for the extra year to try and get ten in a row and it didn’t work out particularly well.

“So he now will be looking to try and get that move that he was promised last year.  There were reports – and I say reports – kind of [suggesting] £12 million, if that was the case, I would fire up the car now and drive him down there if I was Celtic. At the moment, I think that’d be remarkable money to get that in the last year of his contract.”

TIF Thoughts on Ajer…

Ajer, 23, has been a regular part of the Celtic side throughout the last few seasons and it shows that he’s probably an important player for them. So asking for a higher fee in this case is justified for Celtic.

Celtic fans, can you get 8/8 on this quiz on forgotten players? First up: who is this?

While Ajer is said to be unhappy about the rejected bids, Celtic don’t believe that Norwich have walked away from a potential deal and that suggests that the Hoops might be looking at a sale soon and they’re just looking for a higher fee.

Since they’ve reportedly identified a potential replacement for Ajer too, the time may be right to let the player go.
