Spanish football expert Euan McTear reckons that Raphael Varane is open to a new challenge and hinted that now might be the time for the Frenchman to leave Real Madrid.

Last month marked Varane’s 10-year anniversary since he joined Real Madrid as a teenager from Lens.

Will Man United sign Sancho?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

And the 28-year-old has gone on to become a huge success at the Santiago Bernabeu, winning multiple Champions League and La Liga titles, plus several other domestic trophies.

However, with just one year remaining on his contract in the Spanish capital, and Madrid desperate to avoid him exiting for nothing, Varane has reportedly made a verbal agreement to sign for Manchester United ahead of next season.

Varane has been constantly linked with the Premier League in the past, with Chelsea a possibility at one stage some years ago.

But with his deal now in the final 12 months, McTear believes that time is now right having ‘completed’ it at Madrid.

He told This is Futbol:

“I think now is the time, I think he’s ready for a new challenge. He’s won four Champions League, he’s won everything.

“When he was signed, Zidane spoke to him and convinced him to come and was his coach twice, and by all accounts, he got on well with Ancelotti, but from a personal point of view this is the time to move on and find a new challenge because he’s completed it.

“Even though they lost Ramos, it could still happen.”
