Noted transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has offered an update on Alisson’s future at Liverpool.

The Brazilian shot-stopper, valued at £54m on Transfermarkt, has been an invaluable part of Liverpool’s recent success in terms of winning the Champions League and Premier League, especially considering the low standards that were brought to the club by the previous goalkeepers at Anfield.

Liverpool won the first of their six European cups in which season?

Of course, he isn’t just useful at the back either, with his last-minute goal against West Brom last season vital in their chase for a Champions League spot, and it looks as if he could be set to make some more memories in the future.

Speaking on the Here We Go podcast, Romano claimed that the 28-year-old was on the verge of signing a new deal at Anfield:

“So Alisson is getting closer to signing a new contract with Liverpool. It will take some weeks, maybe months because of course with the timing for these kinds of things. But Alisson is getting really, really close to signing a contract with Liverpool.”

TIF Thoughts on Fabrizio Romano’s comments about Alisson at Liverpool…

Is Alisson the world's best goalkeeper?

No

Romano’s words must surely come as great news for Liverpool fans knowing that they are close to locking up one of the best goalkeepers in the division. It’s probably not something that was a pressing issue at Anfield, seeing as his current deal expires in 2024, so it’s not like they were in any great danger of losing him.

But that little bit of added security to know that they have a top-quality goalkeeper on their books for a long time to come must surely be exciting for them, and hopefully with Virgil van Dijk on the way back from injury, they can rekindle the great partnership that has helped Jürgen Klopp’s men in their recent success.
