Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to comments by Fabrizio Romano about a potential deal for Takehiro Tomiyasu.

New boss Nuno Espirito Santo has yet to complete a deal for a player since he was appointed a little under two weeks ago at Tottenham Hotspur, but it appears as though that could be about to change in the coming days.

With Serge Aurier reportedly set to leave the club this summer, Spurs will be in need of a new right-back and that could come in the form of the versatile Japanese defender, with noted journalist Romano claiming on his Twitch stream that:

“Tottenham are working on it. Their proposal is on the table. Bologna are talking directly now with Tottenham after they agreed on personal teams with Tomiyasu. Arsenal are not in the race for Takehiro Tomiyasu.

“Tottenham are leading the race to bring him to England. And I see the deal getting really close. It’s not done yet, but it’s really getting close.”

The news was relayed to fans via @TheSpursExpress via Twitter, where there were plenty of fans on hand to react to the news, though there didn’t seem to be much enthusiasm over the update, with a number of reasons listed:

“Literally the only club that squeezes the life out of a transfer and renders it boring.”

“Noo”
“Boringgggg”
“Hopefully the deal falls through”
“Ridiculous really. Call it off and focus on some other better defender”
“If we are taking this long to get a player that’s not difficult to get then we are in trouble for the rest of the window”

Starting with a current Tottenham star. How many PL goals has Harry Kane scored for Spurs?

It wouldn’t be the best way to start off a career with a club, but hopefully once it is confirmed, Tomiyasu can put in some decent performances when he gets the chance and cheer these fans up a bit.
