Sheffield Wednesday fans have been reacting on Twitter to the latest news and rumours involving the Owls, following their first pre-season game yesterday against Celtic.

Wednesday went ahead through Josh Windass in the early stages, but fell to a 3-1 defeat against the Bhoys.

Windass, who has been linked with a move away from Hillsborough this summer, turned to Twitter saying: ‘Good run out, and a goal.’

Fans were quick to respond to the tweet from the attacking midfielder…

“A very good finish chap. Thought the team looked good today, hope to see you still with us and helping us back into the Championship, come the new season.”

Judging by the replies from Wednesday fans, it seems they were impressed by the performance of Windass, despite the defeat.

Windass arrived at Wednesday on a permanent deal last summer from Wigan Athletic, joining the club at a difficult time, with financial problems surrounding the Owls which saw them handed a points deduction which ultimately led to their relegation from the Championship.

The 27-year-old played in numerous positions for the Owls last season and featured in 44 games for Wednesday across all competitions, playing over 3,000 minutes of football, scoring 10 goals whilst also providing six assists.

Windass’ goal against Celtic may suggest he’s well on the way to be ready for the season ahead, but is his future at the Owls?
