Former Celtic man Frank McAvennie has talked about Eddie Howe and how his demands led to his move to Parkhead falling through.

Howe’s move to Celtic has fallen through and the club is now in talks to hire Yokohama F Marinos manager Ange Postecoglou.

McAvennie appeared on the latest episode of the BBC Sportsound podcast and he talked about Howe and why the move to Celtic didn’t happen. He said that he heard about the fact that Howe had demanded for a signing but Celtic didn’t move for the player.

It was reported that Howe would want Joshua King at the club. It was also stated that he’d want to reunite with Steve Cook too.

McAvennie urged someone to find out what exactly happened that led to Howe’s move not happening.

He said (32:33): “I heard that he asked for a player and they said – no. It’s just [that] we are hearing, the rumours are coming out. Surely somebody should find out what exactly happened.”

TIF Thoughts on Howe’s move falling through…

Celtic released a statement about Howe, claiming that the deal for the Englishman’s didn’t materialise because of reasons out of everyone’s control.

There are suggestions that Howe made it clear to the club that he failed to put together his backroom staff for the Celtic role and a result, he decided against moving to the club.
