Barry Fry insists that West Ham United’s board will readily back manager David Moyes in the transfer market this summer as they look to improve on their sixth-placed finish in 2020/21.

Moyes enjoyed a fantastic season in charge of the Hammers, as they developed into genuine European contenders.

For a time throughout the 2020/21 season, it appeared as though they could genuinely finish in the top four, though they eventually had to settle for Europa League qualification.

Do you think West Ham will sign Lingard?

Yes, we will

Yes, we will

No, we will miss out

No, we will miss out

That is still a fantastic season for a club that were battling relegation in 2019/20, and Moyes has subsequently been rewarded with a new three-year contract at the London Stadium.

That has brought to an end to any speculation over Moyes potentially leaving the club for a return to Everton, and Fry believes that owners David Sullivan and David Gold will give the manager the funds to strengthen the squad effectively this summer.

Speaking exclusively to This Is Futbol, he said: “I think they’re going to back him and that alone will give David Moyes a lot of confidence to go in and improve that squad.

“He’s really worked tirelessly, and his staff have, to change the attitude of all West Ham players from a negative into a positive and he’ll want to improve on that.”
