Journalist Duncan Castles has recently talked about any potential chance of Mauricio Pochettino leaving Paris Saint-Germain to take over at Tottenham Hotspur.

Reports suggest Daniel Levy has previously contacted Mauricio Pochettino about bringing the Argentine back to the club this summer, but Paris Saint-Germain are ‘determined’ to keep their manager in the French capital.

French football expert Philippe Auclair has also stated that Pochettino’s relationship with PSG chief Leonardo isn’t great at the moment.

Castles appeared on the latest episode of The Transfer Window podcast and spoke about Pochettino and whether he could return to Tottenham.

Is there still a chance of Pochettino returning?

The journalist revealed that the Argentine is still looking to leave PSG and is putting pressure on the club’s owners to seek an exit.

The journalist said: “What I’m being told is that Pochettino is continuing to put pressure on Paris Saint-Germain, to put pressure on the Qatari owners to allow him to leave this summer, regardless of Leonardo exercising that option that’s made it more expensive for him to get out.

“There you have at least the potential that Daniel Levy can get the man back, who he seems to regret having sacked to bring Jose Mourinho in and then being forced to sack Jose Mourinho again. It would, certainly from a PR perspective, wash away a terrible few weeks for them.”

TIF Thoughts on a Pochettino return to Spurs…

It was reported previously that Pochettino had told PSG of his desire to leave the club and had asked for permission to cancel his contract early. Alasdair Gold had stated that Pochettino wanted to return to Spurs when the club’s initial approach was made.

However, journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Pochettino won’t be leaving PSG. This suggests that there is clearly mixed information surrounding the Argentine’s stance about his current job, though it does seem as if he would willing to join the club.

But it now seems as if Spurs have moved on, as they’ve recently had an offer pegged back for Julen Lopetegui. So perhaps, Tottenham are looking at other options and Pochettino isn’t in their current plans.
