Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest news to emerge regarding their search for a new permanent manager.

This comes after Spurs podcast Twitter page @LastWordOnSpurs shared a post on their page relaying news originally published in a report from The Times.

Starting with a current Tottenham star. How many PL goals has Harry Kane scored for Spurs?

The report claims that the north London club are in “advanced talks” with former AS Roma manager Paulo Fonseca, who is now thought to be the club’s number-one choice for the manager position.

This post then gathered a lot of replies from a number of Tottenham supporters who were not shy in sharing their thoughts on this latest claim.

So, what did these Spurs fans have to say in response to this latest news about Fonseca?

“Fills me with absolute dread. Harking back to the old days hiring obscure nobodies.”

@aaronwatson1904

“Such an embarrassment”

@Musy_D

“Absolute shambles.”

@lukespurs

“Absolutely the wrong choice”

@norman50_norman

“Will this appointment convince Harry Kane to stay? I question it will”

@Dale2769

Lost for words. Shows the mentality running the club, which is awful, cheap and short-sighted. Say goodbye to our best as they will be long gone. Back to scrapping around mid to low table finishes. #ENICOUT

@Richie4king

“I have no words”

@deannosbest

Looking at the replies to this post, it seems that these Spurs fans are not too pleased by the idea of having Fonseca as their new permanent manager.

Would you be happy with Paulo Fonseca as Spurs' new manager?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Despite this clear unenthusiastic response from these Tottenham supporters, the fact that Fonseca managed to win 53 of the 101 matches he had in charge of Roma shows that he has what it takes to lead a big club in one of the top leagues in Europe.

However, the fact that 48-year-old hasn’t managed in England before could potentially make him a risky appointment for Spurs, in our view.
