Newcastle's all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Alan Shearer but how many goals did he score for the club?

The 24-year-old, speaking to Stadium Astro (via The Chronicle), claimed that he has “really improved” his end product amid interest from other clubs.

However, The Chronicle claims that Newcastle’s move to give Saint-Maximin a new contract in October 2020 was an effort to cover their backs in anticipation of increased interest in the Frenchman.

This post drew the attention of these Toon fans who fear that Saint-Maximin will leave the club this summer.

Getting his excuses in”

@ConventionRudy

He’s going to be sold”

@natelr79

Well that’s Cashley’s plan every season until a Takeover, that’s y we buy more defender’s than Attacking player’s, at least u can get away from him, we can’t”

@My5cherriepies

Do you think Saint-Maximin will leave?

No, he will stay for another season

No, he will stay for another season

Yes, he will leave

Yes, he will leave

Newcastle won just two games without the Frenchman during the 2020/21 Premier League campaign, and even though he only scored three goals and provided four assists, he averaged 1.2 key passes per game and had 1.2 shots per game (as per WhoScored), so he was clearly heavily involved when he did play.

This post continued to draw in Newcastle fans who had their say after Saint-Maximin suggested he did not want to be involved in another relegation battle.

He is away then”

If there’s no takeover next season will be his last”

@myoung23

“Don’t worry he won’t be.”

@Magman55

It will be interesting to see what happens with Saint-Maximin, but given his new deal, the Toon probably have a good chance of keeping him.
