Manchester United will not let Donny van de Beek move to Anfield this summer, says former Liverpool player Paul Stewart.

Van de Beek joined United from Ajax last summer but has really struggled. The 24-year-old made just four starts in the Premier League, constantly overlooked by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

There has since been talk about a quick exit, with Ajax legend Sjaak Swart recently suggesting that Van de Beek would be an ideal replacement for compatriot Gini Wijnaldum at Liverpool.

No

That is a move, however, that Stewart cannot see happening. He told TIF in an exclusive interview:

“He’s certainly shown at Ajax that he’s got the quality, not so sure Manchester United would let him go because I don’t think he’s had a run in the team to prove [himself].”

Will Van de Beek get that run in the team in the new season? It is really hard to imagine that happening given what happened in the campaign that has just gone and the fact that Solskjaer has the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba.

Ultimately, if United get a really good offer this summer, perhaps it would be best for everyone if the Netherlands international moved on.
