However, the midfielder, who’s been capped regularly at international level, has just been released by Bournemouth after signing a short-term deal and is looking to earn himself another contract.

Having left Arsenal, Wilshere joined boyhood club West Ham, but further injury problems restricted him to just a handful of appearances across two seasons, and was let go after failing to convince David Moyes he deserved another deal.

And now, Wilshere is without a club once again following his release from Bournemouth, and has only played 36 first team matches since his Gunners departure in 2018.

But whilst Windass believes that a move to Palace would represent a fresh challenge, he knows that Wilshere must prove his fitness to continue playing at the highest level.

He told This is Futbol:

“Jack will get a club, you don’t become a bad player overnight.

“He’s been very injury prone, but you can see him going to Palace and staying in London. He moved to Bournemouth, and it didn’t work out.

“But if you get Jack on a free, you need to get him fit. Come in pre-season, get fit, if you prove to me you can get fit then we will give you a contract. “
