West Brom fans have been reacting to the latest managerial news involving their club.

This comes as Express and Star reporter Joseph Masi tweeted suggesting that the Baggies board ‘unanimously’ selected Chris Wilder to be the club’s next manager – but owner Guochuan Lai had apparently blocked the move over his concerns about Wilder’s relationship with the hierarchy at previous club Sheffield United.

Following his departure from Bramall Lane back in March, it emerged that there were backroom tensions between him and Prince Abdullah.

This post then gathered a number of responses from Baggies fans, frustrated by the news.

“Can’t even be bothered anymore in all honesty. What an abysmal owner.”

“Wow! This just shows the problems we have from the top. People who don’t understand football making decisions for non-football reasons. Recipe for disaster!”

Looking at the responses, it seems that West Brom fans have been left frustrated by the news and irritated by Lai’s decision to not appoint Wilder as the new West Brom manager.

After leaving Sheffield United, Wilder had been among the favourites to become the new West Brom manager, following Sam Allardyce’s exit at the end of the season, with the Baggies relegated back down to the Championship.

However, according to Masi, Wilder only remains unemployed on the insistence of the owner.
