Marcelo Bielsa will definitely be looking at Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi, says former Leeds United midfielder Carlton Palmer.

The Telegraph recently reported that the Whites are interested in bringing the 27-year-old to Elland Road this summer, and Palmer can understand why.

Batshuayi has worked under Bielsa in the past, playing under the Argentine during his time at Marseille before eventually moving to Chelsea.

Are you taking Batshuayi?

It has not quite worked out for the £90,000-a-week Belgian striker at Stamford Bridge, though, hence his two loan spells at Crystal Palace.

Still, for Palmer, this could be a good move. He told TIF in an exclusive interview:

“Well he knows him, doesn’t he? Managers generally like to work with players they know, players like to go work for managers they know because they get the best out of them.

“Listen, Bielsa will be looking at that and thinking if he can get him in, it’d be a decent addition to the squad because that’s what you need.

“I think Bielsa will be interested. We’ll just have to wait and see.”

In the 2020/21 season, Patrick Bamford was excellent leading the line for Leeds, managing to score 17 Premier League goals.

However, one serious injury and the Whites suddenly look very light in that department. Furthermore, perhaps the arrival of an experienced Premier League striker like Batshuayi this summer could be a smart move.
