Manchester United will back manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this summer, claims Peterborough director of football Barry Fry.

Solskjaer will be desperate to close the gap with Manchester City after finishing 12 points behind the Premier League champions.

The process to close that gap could start with the signing of Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that personal terms have been agreed.

And Fry is expecting more arrivals at Old Trafford before the start of the new season, confident that Solskjaer will be backed in this transfer window.

“Ole’s gone in and done what I think the board want him to do,” the Manchester United supporter told TIF. “I think that goes a long way and that’s why I think Man United will back Ole. They have backed him and they’ll back him further for next year.”

The signing of Sancho would be a great way to get the ball rolling; the 21-year-old has had another good season in Germany, once again reaching double figures for league assists.

Sancho also averaged an impressive three dribbles per league game, more than any Manchester United player (via WhoScored), so it looks like he could be a real menace for the Red Devils down either flank.
