Many Celtic supporters have been left fuming at an update involving Ivan Toney that emerged on social media.

The Sun have recently reported about Toney, stating that the striker’s valuation has now risen to £35million and that’s the fee that Brentford now want for the forward. The report states that Toney is on West Ham’s transfer wishlist, amid links with Chelsea too.

Toney was a Celtic target in the past, but the Hoops had a bid rejected for the forward last summer. The Parkhead-based club had offered a fee of £5million for the Englishman, but it fell well short of Peterborough United’s valuation.

But the latest news about Toney’s valuation was relayed on Twitter by Celtic news now. Many Hoops fans made their views clear about their former target.

What did Celtic fans make of the news about Toney?

“Yeah maybe down there, but if we did sign the lad he would only be worth £15m if we were lucky.”

“Never mind Peter got 3.5 million last year.”

Toney has been in superb form for the Bees this season, as he’s scored as many as 30 times in the Championship. Not just that, but he’s also picked up 10 assists for the side (as per Transfermarkt).

Celtic fans, can you get 8/8 on this quiz on forgotten players? First up: who is this?

He’s the highest scorer in the division and no other player has contributed to more goals than him too (as per Whoscored).

“One person to blame for that. Same as McGinn. Peter Lawwell, he must leave , no way should his shadow hang over Celtic Park nor should he be given a consultant role. Absolutely not. If it does I will never set foot inside Celtic Park again.
