Pundit Mark Guidi has recently made a claim about Brendan Rodgers and the fact that Celtic miss him.

Guidi appeared as a guest on the latest edition of Go Radio Football Show and the panel talked about numerous issues involving the Hoops and Scottish football.

Guidi talked about Rodgers and the fact that he was a loss for the Hoops, hailing the manner in which the Leicester boss got the most out of Scott Brown.

Was Rodgers a bigger loss for Celtic than Brown will be?

Rodgers’ Leicester are currently in the race for top four in the Premier League and are also in the final of the FA Cup. Last season, Rodgers’ side finished fifth in the top flight, only four points behind Chelsea.

Guidi believes that while Celtic fans are still angry about how Rodgers left the club, he has been a big loss for the Bhoys:

He said (1:15:55): “There’s a chance that they could blow up for the second season on the trot in terms of Champions League. They’ve also got an FA Cup Final to look forward to but, you know, I know a lot of Celtic supporters gave Brendan Rodgers stick for when he left, but you assess it now, and you look at him, he is an outstanding manager. And okay, the circumstances when he left weren’t ideal but when you assess it all, what a loss he was.

“We were talking about Scott Brown. You look at the Scott Brown that Brendan Rodgers inherited, and then look at what he gave for three years. I think Scott Brown was the most consistent player in Scotland over that two or three year period, he reinvented himself. He drove that Celtic team on for the treble treble.

“He was absolutely outstanding for 100 – 120 games Scott Brown, and that was down to the way Brendan Rodgers managed him as a player and managed him as a person. So when you assess Brendan Rodgers, as much as Celtic fans get angry about him, but what a hell of a loss he was to the football club.”

Celtic fans, can you get 8/8 on this quiz on forgotten players? First up: who is this?

TIF Thoughts on Rodgers…

Rodgers had stayed at Celtic for a little less than three seasons and during his time at the club, he picked up a points per match tally of 2.44, which is pretty impressive (as per BBC Football).

The current Leicester boss also helped the Bhoys win as many as seven trophies. Under him, they won a couple of Premiership titles and a couple of Scottish Cups too.

That is a reflection of how important he was to help Celtic come close to winning their tenth title in a row and if not for him, the Hoops may not have come so close. So because of that, Hoops fans should miss him and he was a big loss for them.
