Newcastle's all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Alan Shearer but how many goals did he score for the club?

One of the topics that the Shields Gazette reporter spent some time on was the club’s proposed takeover by PCP Capital Partners, PIF, and the Reuben brothers that was withdrawn in July 2020.

Since the takeover was withdrawn, Mike Ashley has launched two legal cases against the Premier League in a bid to force the takeover through.

The first legal challenge was made public in November 2020, and the last we heard on that was in March this year, and Kennedy provided a short update on where that stands.

He said: (5:51) “Unfortunately, it’s just one of those things that we don’t know at the moment. Obviously, there [have] been leaks, there’s been leaks left, right, and centre throughout this process, but this particular part of the process does have people’s hands tied behind their back in terms of legal leaks; it just doesn’t happen and isn’t really happening.

“Do I believe personally from what I know, has it started? I’m not sure it has.

(6:30) “I think anybody trying to tell you any kind of timescale on arbitration, anybody trying to tell you any timescale on the takeover is purely guessing.”

Do you think that arbitration has started?

TIF Thoughts on the arbitration process…

Given that this legal action became public in November, there doesn’t seem to have been much progress.

Lee Ryder confirmed that arbitration hadn’t started on Wednesday, so this whole thing is moving very slowly.

Obviously, arbitration is important because the consortium will bid for the club again if it is successful.

Still, it seems like there is no clear idea of when this process will be finished, so it looks like the wait for Newcastle fans is set to go on.
