Daily Mail journalist John McGarry has talked about the situation of John Kennedy and the Scotsman’s future at Parkhead.
Kennedy was recently linked with taking over as the Celtic director of football and McGarry talked about him on the latest episode of The Celtic Huddle podcast.
The journalist said that Celtic have indeed been trying to put Kennedy in a director of football role, but he also believes that potential new manager Eddie Howe would’ve done his research on the Scotman’s abilities.

While Kennedy is the Celtic interim manager till the end of the campaign, he has admitted that he’d be interested in taking over as the director of football. It has been suggested that the interim boss met with the club’s majority shareholder Dermot Desmond some days ago.
McGarry revealed that while Brendan Rodgers wanted to take Kennedy to Leicester City, the Scotsman decided to stay put.
He said (43:50): “Although he was adamant that he hasn’t held discussions about the director of football role last week, I take [his] word on that, I think Celtic for a long time have seen him potentially in a role like that. Fergal Harkin is the other name being mentioned with that.
“I think John Kennedy has got a very good reputation within the game. Brendan Rodgers wanted to take him to Leicester. He decided to stay put and I think Eddie Howe will have done his homework on him.”

Celtic have been linked with a move for Fergal Harkin in the past and it was reported that the Hoops had opened talks to sign him from Manchester City too.
Harkin has clear experience of working on transfers at a club like Man City. Celtic and Man City have had multiple transfers between themselves, which might be an indication of the fact that Harkin may have ties with the Hoops.
Kennedy hasn’t had any experience of working in a role regarding the transfers at Celtic. So because of that, Harkin might be a better option for the Hoops.
