West Bromwich Albion journalist Joe Masi has been sharing his thoughts on Baggies striker Mbaye Diagne and his future at the Midlands club.

This comes after Masi co-hosted a recent episode of West Brom-themed podcast Baggies Broadcast where he spoke about a range of topics concerning Sam Allardyce’s side, including their recent 1-1 draw against Wolves in the Premier League.

Nice easy one to start off with, who currently sits top of the table?

On the subject of Diagne, who scored West Brom’s goal against Wolves on Monday evening, and his future at the club, Masi had this to say about the striker. (29.52)

He said: “I think someone will go for him.

“I think Albion will be interested and I think they’ll speak to him and I think they’ll say, ‘do you fancy a year in the Championship?’

“I think he’ll get an offer from the Premier League; I really do.”

West Brom signed Diagne back in the previous January transfer window from Turkish club Galatasaray on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Since arriving at The Hawthorns, the 29-year-old, who is currently valued at £2.7 million, has made 14 appearances for the Baggies in the Premier League in which he has managed to score three goals and pitch in with two assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Joe Masi’s comments on Diagne…

Given how Diagne has shown during his spell with West Brom that he is capable of scoring goals in the Premier League, it’s understandable why Masi thinks there could be some interest in the striker from fellow top-flight clubs during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Do you think West Brom should try and sign Diagne again this summer?

With Crystal Palace and Brighton & Hove Albion reportedly interested in signing Diagne, it seems that the Midlands club will have to work fast if they want to keep hold of the striker beyond his current loan deal.

However, with the Baggies facing relegation back to the Championship by the end of the current season, this could well be a big factor in where Diagne chooses to play next season.
