Former Tottenham Hotspur star Graham Roberts has told This Is Futbol that Tanguy Ndombele simply doesn’t have the ability to make an impact in the Premier League.

The France international has struggled at times this season and is currently struggling to find a way into Ryan Mason’s team during his tinerim time in charge.

He has not started any of the last four games, sitting on the bench against Sheffield United and playing a total of 34 minutes versus Leeds United, Wolves, and Aston Villa.

Should Ndombele be starting more often under Mason?

Roberts believes that the Premier League is too intense for the 24-year-old, who became the club’s record signing when he arrived from Lyon during Mauricio Pochettino’s reign.

The ex-Spurs skipper also thinks he is unable to play his natural way because games can pass him by as they can when playing in Ligue 1.

Ndombele made 96 appearances for Lyon, scoring four goals and laying on 16 assists in total. He is still valued at £45m by Transfermarkt.

Speaking exclusively to TIF, he said: “I think the Premier League’s too quick for him. Everyone keeps telling me he’s a wonderful player and this, this, this and this but the Premier League is a very strong league and you have to perform every game.

“You can’t do your tricks, like in France you play one or two games and then you have three games missing, in the Premier League every game’s a cup final.

“Any team can beat any team, look at Sheffield United beating Everton, that’s the power of the league. You’ve got to be up and running to that standard.”
