Southampton experienced an early season burst of form only for them to end up in a relegation battle at the end of the campaign and Rob Lee, who made 467 appearances throughout his career, spoke exclusively to This is Futbol and has claimed that Danny Ings will be leaving the Saints this summer.

Ings has reignited his career since he ditched Anfield for St Mary’s as he event finished runner up in the race for the golden boot last year finishing just one goal behind Jamie Vardy’s totally of 24.

Will Ings leave Southampton?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

A whole host of clubs could be looking for a new striker this summer and Ings has been linked with a move to Manchester City as they look to find a replacement for the departing Sergio Aguero.

Ings managed to stay injury-free last season but this year he has picked up a few niggling injuries, however, that won’t stop him from being bought by a bigger club, according to Lee, who spoke exclusively to This is Futbol:

I think Danny Ings is leaving, sorry to Southampton fans but I think someone’s going to get him. I said Newcastle should have signed him when he left Liverpool because I’ve always thought he was a fantastic player.

He’s had a few injury niggles but every time he comes back and scores goals. So, unfortunately for Southampton, someone will snap him up but they will pay big money.”

Who scored Southampton's first goal of the season?

Since he joined Southampton, initially on loan in 2019, Ings has netted an impressive 46 times in just 98 games for the Saints as his goals have helped them stay clear of the drop zone.

The £75,000 per week striker got his big move to Liverpool earlier on in his career but the 28-year old missed 498 days due to injury which stopped him from being able to gather momentum at Anfield.
