TalkSport pundit Trevor Sinclair has given his view on the injury suffered by Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze.

It was recently revealed that the 22-year-old had sustained an Achilles injury in training that could see him ruled out of action until the start of 2022 in what is a major blow after the season he has had.

He scored four goals and chipped in with six assists in his debut Premier League campaign following his £19.5m move from Queens Park Rangers last summer, and on top of that, had started to develop a pretty good relationship with Wilfried Zaha.

And as heard on the TalkSport Daily podcast, Sinclair laid out just how major the impact of his absence is going to be moving forward:

“Absolute massive blow for Eze and for Crystal Palace. Fantastic player.

“That’s a massive blow and obviously with Roy Hodgson going out of the club as well, that’s a huge, huge gap to fill.”

Eze’s injury will certainly be a major setback for the Eagles, who are already in the process of going through a major overhaul at Selhurst Park both on and off the pitch as they search for a new manager.

To now find themselves without one of their most promising prospects for some time will give the new manager another headache to deal with heading into what was already going to be an awkward summer to navigate.

All the more reason that the recruitment is going to have to be spot on with whoever the new manager may be, because Palace are already behind the eight-ball as it is, and they can’t really afford to put themselves in a situation where they are adrift at the bottom of the league by the time Eze is back from his injury.
