Dean Windass has exclusively told This is Futbol that Patrick Bamford wouldn’t consider leaving Leeds this summer should an opportunity present itself, following reports from The Athletic on Monday that Liverpool admire the striker.

Bamford has enjoyed an exceptional first full season in the Premier League, scoring 15 times in 35 appearances, with only five players ahead of him in the race for the Golden Boot.

Could Patrick Bamford be tempted to leave Leeds this summer?

Having scored against the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea,Leicester and Tottenham, Bamford has shown that he’s more than good enough to compete against the best sides in the Premier League.

His contract situation could attract interest from elsewhere, but Windass believes that Bamford needs to prove himself to avoid being tagged a “one-season wonder”.

The frontman is out of contract next summer but is expected to be rewarded for his outstanding form with a new deal.

Leeds' all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Mark Viduka but how many did he score?

He told This is Futbol:

“The second season will be an important factor for him. Especially as a centre-forward, you’re judged on your goals. Was he a one season wonder?”

But should Bamford continue to score the goals for Leeds next term, who does Windass think would be interested in signing the former Chelsea striker?

He added:

“I can see somebody like Brendan taking him at Leicester to cover for Jamie Vardy, but then does he want to be a number two striker?

“He’s a young man, you have another season at Leeds under a manager that is going to take them even further. Why would he want to leave? The manager trusts him, he trusts the manager.”
