Speaking exclusively to This Is Futbol, former Premier League midfielder Lee Hendrie can understand why Eddie Howe has not yet accepted the Celtic job, stating that it is a big decision to make.

Howe appears to be Celtic’s No.1 choice for the position, with BBC Sport reporting earlier this month that the gig in the Celtic Park dugout is “his if he wants it”.

However, the former Bournemouth boss looks no closer to becoming Celtic manager, especially with emerging reports about him talking to Crystal Palace about replacing Roy Hodgson circulating.

Is Howe to Celtic still on?

Some Celtic fans may start to get tired with this waiting game, but Hendrie believes patience will be needed as Howe assesses all of his options.

On the 43-year-old, the ex-Aston Villa player told TIF in an exclusive interview:

“He’s trying to make out and figure out which is going to be his best route because he certainly can be a Premier League manager; there’s no doubt about that. I feel that Celtic’s a massive, massive club, high expectations.

“The season they’ve had was obviously a poor season on their front and obviously Rangers their rivals going and winning the league… it’s a big decision to go out there and really get yourself going.”

There has been some talk about caretaker manager John Kennedy possibly getting the job permanently. But with Celtic needing to win back the Scottish Premiership title from rivals Rangers, it is hard to imagine them not going for a more experienced name in the end.
