Gerrard arrived at Ibrox in the summer of 2018, tasked with ending Celtic’s dominance of the Scottish Premiership.
In his third season at the club, the Liverpool legend was able to do just that as he led Rangers to their first Scottish title in 10 years, thus ending their rivals’ stranglehold on the division.
For Hendrie, it was a gamble but one that has undoubtedly paid off for both club and manager.
On Gerrard, the ex-Aston Villa player told TIF in an exclusive interview:
“I think Stevie G’s done a fabulous job up at Rangers. When you think of what he’s achieved this season, Celtic-Rangers thing is massive up in Scotland. I felt it was a big gamble for Stevie to go up and do that because Rangers were in a bit of a slump.
“They were sort of possibly on a rebuilding process, but Stevie had obviously had the backing to go in there and try and, you know, rekindle that form and rekindle that push obviously to compete with Celtic – which they have done well, absolutely blew them out the water.”
Without a doubt, it has certainly been an exciting season for Rangers, who do not look done yet.
Following that recent 2-0 win over their fierce rivals, the Gers still have the chance to add more silverware to their trophy cabinet by winning the Scottish Cup.
