Pundit Alan Rough has recently made a claim on the latest rumours involving the future of Patryk Klimala.

This came after Rough’s appearance on PLZ Soccer’s The Football Show and the panel talked about numerous issues involving Celtic and Scottish football in general.

Rough gave his views about Klimala’s links with a move to MLS club New York Red Bulls. The pundit made it clear that it is incredible how his time at Parkhead has turned out to be and he’s struggling to work out why things haven’t gone well for the Polish striker.

Who is to be blamed for Klimala's failure at Celtic?

Klimala had arrived at Parkhead from Polish club Jagiellonia Bialystok in January 2020 for a fee of £3.60 million. Before arriving at Celtic, he had done well for his former club, as he scored seven times and picked up three assists for them.

During his stint at Celtic, he’s scored only three times and has only one assist. Rough believes that Klimala’s situation perhaps isn’t about the money, but the fact that things failed to work out for the striker.

He suggested: “For the life of me, I can’t see how it’s not worked out for him. I don’t care what money they’re talking about. Going to America, it will be nowhere near the money that Celtic have paid. So they’re going to get bumped in that one for a couple of million at least.

“But sometimes, you have to get them off the books and move them on. It’ll be interesting to keep tabs on the boy to see how he does in America. It’s just incredible that somebody with that kind of ability doesn’t work.”

TIF Thoughts on Klimala…

This season, Klimala has made only three starts in the Premiership, which shows that he’s not been handed enough chances. Even last season, he had failed to play regularly for the Bhoys in all competitions. So maybe, the lack of game time has led to the situation that he’s in right now.

While Celtic signed him for a fee of £3.6 million, the move to New York Red Bulls is going through for a fee which is said to be lucrative and is set to be satisfactory for the Hoops in a financial sense. So if that’s really the case, perhaps Celtic can look to reinvest that money on someone else.
