Newcastle United fans have been reacting to comments made by John Gibson about Ryan Fraser’s performances this season.
The 27-year-old, who is valued at £10.8 million (as per Transfermarkt), was brought in this past summer on a five-year deal, but hasn’t exactly lit the world alight, with a return of just one goal and three assists this campaign, not helped by missing parts of the season through hamstring and calf injuries.
And writing in an article for The Chronicle, Gibson slammed the Scotsman’s performances this season, questioning his attitude in the process, saying:
“A disappointing signing for me. He actually looks more than capable of shaking off that cloak of despondency when called up to play for Scotland and pointedly said after his recent goalscoring for them that ‘when you rate a manager you will run through a brick wall for him’.”
His words were relayed to fans by the Newcastle United – Chronicle Facebook page where there were plenty of fans who agreed, with some pointing to the way he treated AFC Bournemouth last summer as an example of his bad attitude and how they weren’t surprised the issue has come up again:
Have you been impressed by Ryan Fraser so far this season?
There is quite possibly an issue here, you just wonder if it’s likely to be fixed at any point.
