Harry Kane scored twice before going off injured as Spurs battled to a 2-2 draw with Everton on Friday night.
Kane produced two excellent half-volley finishes either side of a Gylfi Sigurdsson double.
The dreaded ankle issue for Kane
But there was a major scare – for both Jose Mourinho and England boss Gareth Southgate – in stoppage time at the end of the match as Kane hobbled off with an apparent ankle complaint.
Kane’s ankle has caused him persistent problems since 2016.
He’s suffered five separate ankle injuries, keeping him out for a total of 140 days (via Transfermarkt).
Spurs are back in action on Wednesday against Southampton, but the bigger concern is the League Cup final against Manchester City next Sunday.
Kane took to Twitter shortly after the final whistle to write that he was ‘disappointed with only a point’ and look ahead to a ‘big week’.
He was the only player involved to tweet about the game within 12 hours of the final whistle.
Spurs fans flock to Kane’s tweet
“Just take my ankle Harry”
“Please be ok Harry we need you. Rest up for 9 days take it easy”
“YOU ABSOLUTE KING. Mate, forget the golden boot for a second. Ik you could statpad a few vs Southampton but the cup final is more important at this point”
“Are you ok king?”
“Don’t do this to us”
“You deserve better H. Hope the ankles ok.”
“We don’t deserve you H. Not one bit.”
“This sounds like you’re optimistic that you’ll be fit and involved. I hope so. Please be fit. Please be involved. Please. Please. Please be fit and involved. For God’s sake, please.”
