Harry Kane scored twice before going off injured as Spurs battled to a 2-2 draw with Everton on Friday night.

Kane produced two excellent half-volley finishes either side of a Gylfi Sigurdsson double.

The brace moved him two clear of Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah in the race for the Golden Boot, which he last won four years ago.

The dreaded ankle issue for Kane

But there was a major scare – for both Jose Mourinho and England boss Gareth Southgate – in stoppage time at the end of the match as Kane hobbled off with an apparent ankle complaint.

Kane’s ankle has caused him persistent problems since 2016.

He’s suffered five separate ankle injuries, keeping him out for a total of 140 days (via Transfermarkt).

Spurs are back in action on Wednesday against Southampton, but the bigger concern is the League Cup final against Manchester City next Sunday.

Kane took to Twitter shortly after the final whistle to write that he was ‘disappointed with only a point’ and look ahead to a ‘big week’.

He was the only player involved to tweet about the game within 12 hours of the final whistle.
