Newcastle United fans have been reacting to news of who is going to be the referee for their game against West Ham United.

The game probably doesn’t take on as much significance as it would have done in recent weeks for Steve Bruce’s men given their position in the league table, but they still can’t ease up just yet as they look to stay in the league, and with West Ham United aiming to finish in the Champions League places, it’s a massive game for them.

It was announced today that Kevin Friend will be in charge of the game at St. James’ Park. Newcastle don’t have the best of records with Friend in charge in recent seasons. His only game in charge of them this season was their 3-0 loss to Brighton at the start of the year and they only won one of the games he was in charge of last term, and that was against a soon-to-be relegated AFC Bournemouth.

That is why there wasn’t a lot of positive Newcastle United fans when the news hit them on Twitter:

“Remember when Aguero was stood a mile offside when he headed in against Newcastle in April 2016? Everyone in the ground knew he was offside. Not Kevin Friend.”

“God help us whether he refs on pitch or on VAR does not make any difference it’s shocking”
“Argh noooooooo”
“Announce the loss now then
“Another awful Referee well there’s not many decent ones tbf.”
“Ok we can settle for a 4-0 home loss”

So it looks like you can just hand the three points to West Ham United at this stage based on these reactions.
