Newcastle United fans have been sending a message to the club following their U18 side’s victory in the FA Youth Cup at the weekend.

It was a day of double delight for the club. Not only did the senior side ease their relegation fears with a win over Burnley, but the U18s booked their place in the FA Youth Cup quarter-finals with a dramatic 3-2 win over Watford at St. James’ Park.

It was dramatic because they didn’t manage to seal the win until the final minute of extra time, with Elliot Anderson scoring the winner with a free-kick (NUFC TV via @tomnufc_) into the top corner. Anderson has been amongst the goals all season for the academy with seven goals across a variety of competitions before his goal yesterday.

And when the goal went in, there were plenty of fans who were begging for him to be played in the first-team sometime soon:

“ANDERSON GET HIM IN THE FIRST TEAM”

“Let him start for the SENIOR TEAM”
“Play him instead of Shelvey”
“Get him in the first team”
“Kid’s special”
“Should’ve been on our bench today. Get him in the first team regularly.”

Will Elliott Andersen make another first-team appearance this season?

No

Although you imagine that Steve Bruce would wait until safety is confirmed before giving him some minutes, which after Sunday’s result could be all the closer.
