A lot of Newcastle United fans have flocked to a post from NUFC 360, which has relayed news from The Chronicle regarding a potential financial boost for the Toon in the summer.
They claim that because Norwich City and Watford have won promotion from the Championship, their parachute payments of £83m will be shared between the Premier League clubs, giving the Toon an extra £4.8m.
The Chronicle claim that Newcastle could use this to fund transfer moves, but these Toon fans are not convinced.
“Phwoar, don’t spend it all at once lads.”
“Straight in Ashley’s back pocket”
“So offer 4.8 million for willock, and when that’s refused. Pocket the money and look for a loan move instead”
Do you think this will be added to the transfer budget?
No, we will never see that money
Yes, I think it will
Given that Joe Willock is set to cost Newcastle £20m, should they try and bring the 21-year-old permanently to St James’ Park, this money could help them fund that deal.
However, these Newcastle fans remain unconvinced or unimpressed.
“The transfer budget now stands at a whopping £4.9m.”
“WOW !!!”
“So that means instead of £0 , it will be £0″
It will be interesting to see how the Toon spend this money when they get it in the summer, but it is clear that many Newcastle fans cannot see it being used to help them buy new players.
