Speaking on the latest Here We Go podcast, Fabrizio Romano has commented on Liverpool’s stance with Mohamed Salah ahead of the summer transfer window.

There have been rumours surrounding the Egyptian’s future with Liverpool following an interview with Marca where he commented on potentially playing in La Liga at some point.

When asked if he could see himself playing in Spain, he said: “I hope to be able to play for many more years. Why not?”

The £110m-rated forward has played 28 times for the Reds in the Premier League, he has found the back of the net 17 times in those games and provided three assists (via Transfermarkt).

Despite the comments made to Marca, Romano believes the Merseyside club are looking at extending Salah’s contract in the summer.

He said: “What I want to say is that Liverpool are planning with Mo Salah, are planning also with the other stars like Mane and many others, so they are not looking at the situation like, ‘Okay we’re warning or something is going to happen.’

“At the moment, it is so quiet on the Salah side, they are planning with the same structure also with Klopp on the bench, so at the moment there is nothing with Salah. Let’s see what happens with this contract, because for sure it will be something to be discussed.

“We said many times about Fabinho, about Van Dijk, so for Liverpool it will be time soon to talk also with Mo Salah. Let’s see when they will decide to open negotiations, how much they will offer to Mo Salah after this difficult moment with the pandemic, as for all top clubs in the world, so let’s see how he develops.

“His agent, Ramy Abbas, for sure will be always open because their work is always to plan with Mo Salah.”

Salah joined Liverpool in the summer of 2017 from Roma for a fee believed to be in the region of £42m, but could this be his last season in the Premier League?

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

Following the interview with Marca, many Liverpool fans will have been left concerned by the comments made and the long-term future of their ‘Egyptian King’ at Anfield. However, Romano’s comments will certainly provide them with a crumb of comfort ahead of this summer.

Salah has played a huge role in Liverpool’s recent success and despite their disappointing season to date, the winger has still managed to score 17 Premier League goals this campaign – joint-most with Harry Kane.

Given the rumours which are surrounding the 28-year-old, it will make for an interesting summer to see where his future lies whether that be at Anfield or elsewhere.
