A lot of Leeds United fans have responded on Twitter to some comments from interim Sheffield United manager Paul Heckingbottom following their clash on Saturday afternoon.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side ran out 2-1 victors on the day with Phil Jagielka’s second-half own goal providing the difference to send Leeds up into the top half of the table.

Former Leeds manager Heckingbottom discussed his side’s performance in the second half of the game and insisted he thought the Blades were getting the better of Bielsa’s men.

He said (as per the Yorkshire Evening Post): The frustrating thing is, when I felt we were getting on top in the second half and Leeds were making subs to try and live with us, we weren’t able to get our foot on the throat of Leeds, we tended to let that momentum go which allowed Leeds to counter and we had to start again.”

In response to his comments, the Leeds fans voiced their thoughts on Twitter as many laughed off the comments made by the 43-year-old manager.

“All three subs were a case of giving minutes to returning players or in Klich’s place players who are exhausted and working him back in. Is Heckingbotton deluded, did any in attendance actually question this statement?”

“Wow just wow”

Leeds dominated the stats having had 23 total shots during the 90 minutes, in comparison, Heckingbottom’s side only had one shot on target and that came in the form of Ben Osborn’s goal (via WhoScored).

The Leeds fans were clearly left far from impressed by the comments made by their former manager and that is perhaps emphasised given Bielsa’s complimentary comments made about Heckingbottom prior to the game.
