First up in this Gareth Barry quiz, which club did Villa sign the midfielder from?

On the subject of the summer transfer window and Villa’s potential plans based on the club’s recent run of form in the Premier League, Bardell had this to say on the matter. (5.28)

He said: “I think in the long term, I think now going into the summer, I think alarm bells will have been raised at the hierarchy and perhaps maybe positions that they didn’t think they needed to splash out, I think they probably will now.

“I think everyone at the club will now know we need to get some more quality in those front three positions and someone for competition for [Ollie] Watkins as well because he can’t do it on his own in terms of being a striker.”

So far this season, Villa have managed to pick up 41 points from 28 games, winning 12, drawing five and losing 11 in the process (per BBC Sport).

TIF Thoughts on Dan Bardell’s comments on the summer transfer window…

Given how Villa have only managed to win one out of their seven previous Premier League games and score just three goals in that time, it’s understandable why Bardell has suggested that this recent run of form could have been a big sign to the owners at Villa that they need to sign some attacking reinforcements during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Moving forward, with the summer transfer window on the horizon and the current Financial Fair Play regulations potentially being scrapped, it will be intriguing to see what transfer business Villa do in the window, specifically in the attacking area of the pitch, despite the club signing Ollie Watkins last summer.
