Leeds United fans have been reacting to a rather bizarre story surrounding Patrick Bamford and Marcelo Bielsa.

The 27-year-old has been pretty impressive during this season in the Premier League, currently ranking joint 5th in the division when it comes to the scoring charts with 14, behind only England captain Harry Kane when it comes to English goal scorers, which has left some claiming that he could make this summer’s European Championships squad.

However, like most forwards, he does miss the odd opportunity, even in training, which has led to a rather awkward situation between him and Bielsa. Speaking on That Peter Crouch Podcast (quoted by The Mirror), Bamford spoke about how he did some serious damage to the Argentinian head coach during a training session.

He said: “The ball has come in and I’ve connected with it so sweetly on my left foot. It’s near the top corner and he’s stood right inside the goal. I’ve not seen him so I’ve just hit the ball and it has come flush right off the bridge of his nose. All I saw were his glasses fly about 10 metres!

“I don’t know if you’ve noticed in the last few weeks he’s using the same glasses and they’re not straight, they’re wonky.”

These comments were relayed to fans via @RITGK, where there were plenty of fans who were left laughing at the news:

“Haha that’s superb”

“That’s superb if true”
“Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha”
“Hahaha quality”
“He’ll probably keep them like that forever now, he’ll think it’s an honour he’s that much of a Bamford fanboy”
“This is amazing! As if Bamford broke MB’s glasses”
“This can’t be true”

Will Patrick Bamford make the England squad?

Although you wonder if they’d have been as happy if it was their glasses that Bamford broke.
