Former Premier League striker Marcus Bent has told This Is Futbol in an exclusive interview that Leeds United could end up doing something special next year if Marcelo Bielsa is backed in the transfer market.

Leeds have had a good season back in the Premier League following their promotion from the Championship last term, never really being in any sort of real relegation trouble.

It is something that Bielsa is looking to build on, with the Argentinian coach recently revealing that he has made it an objective for his side to improve in their games against the top six in the next campaign.

Leeds have had some odd players over the last ten years but how well do you remember them. Starting with the most recent one, who is this?

And if backed, Bent believes Leeds could be in store for another successful season under Bielsa.

Speaking exclusively to TIF, the ex-Everton striker said:

“Coming up they’ve done really well. The team that they’ve got is basically a lot of players that they had in the Championship. They’ve replaced a couple of them but, yeah, they’re doing really well.

They’re scoring goals and I think they’re about 10th, around about there, little bit like Sheffield United last year. They kind of jumped into the Premier League with a spring in their step and it was refreshing, really refreshing.”

On Bielsa specifically, Bent went on to add:

“You talk about Marcelo, he’s 65 now and they’re talking about will he stay on at the end of the season? I’m not too sure, but his results and the way he’s going at the minute and if he gets a bit of money to spend, then maybe they could do something next year.”

Whatever happens, Bielsa can look back and view this season and his overall tenure in the Elland Road dugout as a huge success.
