Newcastle United attacker Miguel Almiron has admitted he ‘would like to play in a team that fights more’.

The abject Magpies went down 3-0 to Brighton last weekend in a relegation six-pointer.

In the aftermath, defender Ciaran Clark admitted the players didn’t seem to be ‘up for it’ despite the magnitude of the occasion (via Chronicle Live).

Meanwhile, former manager Graeme Souness stressed that ‘you can’t win football matches, at this level, unless you’re full of fire’ (via Daily Mail).

He said that Newcastle were ‘passive and non-aggressive’ at the Amex Stadium.

Almiron, who was speaking to Paraguayan radio station ABC Cardinal, did add that he remained ‘happy’ and ‘comfortable’ on Tyneside.

But the former Atlanta United man said last month that he was eyeing a move to a ‘top club’ further down the line (via Chronicle Live).

Almiron has scored five goals and provided three assists across 30 appearances for Steve Bruce’s struggling side this season.

He has three years remaining on his contract and is valued at £14.4million (via Transfermarkt).
