Former agent William Glavin has recently talked about Eddie Howe and why he should be a future Celtic manager.

This came after Glavin appeared as a guest on the latest episode of the Celtic Now & Forever podcast and the panel talked about numerous issues involving the Parkhead-based side. They talked about potential managers for the club and one man that Glavin talked about was former Bournemouth manager Howe. He compared the Englishman to former Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers.

The Daily Record recently published an article about Howe and Celtic, stating that there is quite a bit of excitement amongst Celtic fans regarding the Englishman. It has been stated that Howe would be interested in managing at Parkhead, but he’s waiting for a Premier League move.

Is Eddie Howe the perfect option for Celtic?

Glavin talked about Howe, saying that he is someone who will develop players and look to play a fluid brand of football like he did at the Vitality Stadium.

The former agent claimed: “I think if it was not him [Jesse Marsch], it would probably be Eddie Howe for me. I think what Eddie achieved at Bournemouth and I know a lot of fans will come on to say, he’s not won anything. But he took that club from rock bottom almost to the Premier League and they sustained that Premier League status over a few seasons and obviously he moved on.

“He will develop players and he will sit down with every player, video analysis, coaching one on one. Spend so much time with players to make them better. And I think that’s what we need at the club just know but not only that, I think the way he plays football – possession based football, very fluid football, in terms of intensity, winning the ball back players, pressing – that’s a sort of football I want to see again.

“Similar to what Rodgers had at Celtic. It was enjoyable to watch, we all enjoyed watching his play, keeping the ball, scoring a lot of goals. I think Eddie would bring that.”

TIF Thoughts on Eddie Howe…

Howe managed the Cherries across two spells between 2008 and 2020, helping them climb up the divisions of the English footballing pyramid. He even helped them finish as high as ninth in the Premier League in one campaign.

It shows that he knows how to improve the levels of clubs. In the 2016/17 campaign, Bournemouth had multiple players that the Cherries had signed from the lower divisions of England.

That is a very good sign for the Hoops, especially considering that Howe got Bournemouth to play an attacking brand of football too. Because of that, Howe would be a good option for Celtic.
