Celtic fans on Facebook have been responding to the latest news concerning the manager position at the Parkhead club and who could be the person to take the job.

This comes after Celtic-based Facebook account Celtic News Now shared a post relaying news originally posted on Twitter by journalist Nicolo Schira (via 67HailHail).

Which club did Brown join Celtic from?

Schira revealed that Enzo Maresca, who is currently the head coach of Manchester City’s U23 side, is the “first target” for the manager position at Celtic for next season.

This post then gathered a lot of replies from Hoops fans, who were quick to share their thoughts on this news.

So, what did these Celtic fans have to say in response to this news about Maresca?

Some Hoops fans were rather interested in seeing the Italian coach take over at Parkhead.

Some Celtic fans, however, were not as optimistic at seeing Maresca become the new manager at the club.

Before becoming the City U23s manager, Maresca was assistant manager at West Ham United, Sevilla and Ascoli.

With City’s U23s, the 41-year-old has taken charge of 21 matches, winning 13, drawing four and losing four in the process (per Transfermarkt).

Do you think Maresca would be a good fit for Celtic?

Looking at the replies to this post, it seems that the idea of Maresca becoming the new permanent manager at Celtic has completely split this group of Hoops fans.

In our view, it would be a bit of a gamble for Celtic to hire Maresca as their manager when he hasn’t had any experience of managing a senior team at the top level, which is what Celtic could need moving forward considering how far they have fallen behind Rangers this season.
