The Athletic journalist Tim Spiers has been speaking on The Molineux View podcast talking about all things Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Speaking about Wolves’ problems in attack, Spiers had his attention drawn to on-loan striker Rafa Mir, who is currently playing for Huesca in La Liga.

The Spanish striker has now scored four goals in his last six La Liga appearances,  including a hat-trick against Real Valladolid.

When asked about the 23-year-old on-loan striker, Spiers had this to say.

He said: “Is he the answer because he’s scoring goals in La Liga? Well, we’ve seen from Willian Jose, that’s not necessarily the case.

“I think Nuno’s made his mind up on Rafa Mir, I think if he was going to come back, it would have been in January when they were desperate for a striker.

“If they didn’t bring him back then, I’m not sure when they would, to be honest. And I think this summer, with Jimenez and Silva already there, it’s asking a lot for Rafa Mir to come back and play for Wolves again.

Strikers Willian Jose and Fabio Silva only have two goals between them in their combined 30 appearances in the Premier League.

Does Rafa Mir have a future with Wolves?

TIF Thoughts on Spiers’ comments on Mir…

Mir has had an impressive run of recent form with four goals in his last seven league games, however, the Spaniard has only scored another three goals across his previous 19 games in La Liga (via Transfermarkt).

If Mir is to have a future at Wolves, it could be argued that the 23-year-old would have to continue this recent form shown in his past seven games for the remainder of the season, just to be within a shout of being in Nuno’s plans for the future.
