Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge has shared the latest injury update concerning Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso.

This comes after Bridge recently made an appearance on the latest episode of The Sky Sports Football Podcast where he spoke about Jose Mourinho’s side and their upcoming Premier League clash against Crystal Palace.

On the subject of Lo Celso and his current injury situation, Bridge had this to say on the matter.

He said: “He could be back on the bench on Sunday, Jose Mourinho said he’s not going to rush him back. He’s been out for a couple of months, but he has trained fully with the squad this week, so don’t be too surprised, Spurs fans, to see Lo Celso on the bench on Sunday. If he’s not on the bench on Sunday, he might be involved in Thursday’s Europa League game.”

Mourinho had previously insisted the midfielder was 1-2 weeks away from returning to the first-team fold, so it may have been slightly unexpected for Lo Celso to return so soon.

The Argentine arrived at the north London club on a loan deal from Real Betis back in August 2019.

Since then, the 24-year-old, who is currently valued at £31.5 million, has made 56 appearances for the Lilywhites across all competitions in which he has scored seven goals and provided four assists in the process (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Michael Bridge’s comments on Lo Celso…

While it’s good to hear that Lo Celso is nearing a full recovery from his injury, the fact that he has only managed to earn himself a fairly uninspiring season rating of 6.56/10 for his Premier League performances so far this season – making him their joint-14th-lowest-rated player, suggests to us that he has some work to do if he wants to get back into this Spurs side and make a positive impact.

However, if Lo Celso puts in a significant performance when he does make his return to the team, there’s every possibility that he could turn his season around and vastly improve on the form he showed earlier in the season before he got injured.
