Fans of Tottenham Hotspur have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relayed Jose Mourinho’s comments regarding the fitness of Spurs forward Son Heung-min.

Having been withdrawn after just 19 minutes due to injury in Tottenham’s north London Derby defeat last weekend, the 28-year-old forward appeared an immediate doubt for Spurs’ round-of-16 Europa League tie with Dinamo Zagreb this evening.

Test your knowledge of these Tottenham players' market values! How much do you think Hugo Lloris is worth?

And, speaking in his pre-match press conference, Mourinho confirmed that the forward is indeed set to miss the European tie, as well as also suggesting that the South Korea international could be ruled out of Tottenham’s Premier League clash with Aston Villa on Sunday.

He said: “Sonny has no chance for this match, no chance at all. I even feel it’s very doubtful for the weekend. I believe he will need the international break to recover totally.”

After the club relayed the 58-year-old’s comments on Twitter, fans of Tottenham flocked to have their say on the matter, with many appearing distraught at the prospect of Son’s prolonged absence from the side.

So, what exactly did these Tottenham Hotspur fans have to say in reaction to Jose Mourinho’s update regarding Son Heung-min?

“Does it really matter our season is over?”

@MacNama81457427

“Might as well get some well-deserved rest Sonny.”

@Simons_spurs

“Are we finally seeing a Tottenham side that plays the ‘injured during the international break’ game like all the other teams do? Either that or it’s more likely a genuinely bad injury.”

@jonhotspur88

“I respect players wanting to play for their national teams but considering his injury and reason for the injury, to me, it doesn’t make sense for Sonny to travel far and play for an international friendly. He needs this break to get back in form.”

@Spurs4Trophies

“Oh.”

“:/”

All in all, it would appear as if the majority of these Spurs fans are disappointed to hear the news that Son looks set for a spell on the sidelines, and considering the forward has 18 goals and 16 assists to his name so far this season, it is not difficult to understand why.
