Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest piece of transfer news concerning the north London club.

This comes after Spurs-focused Twitter account @TheSpursExpress shared a post on their page relaying news originally published in a report from Estadio Deportivo.

Test your knowledge of these Tottenham players' market values! How much do you think Hugo Lloris is worth?

The report claims that Spurs, alongside Sevilla, Leicester City, Roma and Napoli, are closely following the developments surrounding Marseille midfielder Florian Thauvin and his future with the French club.

This post then gathered a lot of replies from Spurs fans, who were quick to share their thoughts on a potential move for Thauvin.

So, what did these Spurs fans have to say in response to this latest transfer news linking the club with Thauvin?

“Would be stupid not to”

@jamleeroberts

I’ve seen two tweets on my timeline being Pro – Thauvin, till now. My thoughts on him is that he’ll be the perfect Lamela/Bale replacement, both on and off the field.

“This would actually be a very good signing imo”

@ThfcAnton

Thauvin on a free would be a rare piece of exceptionally smart business. In an area Spurs should be looking at too. Don’t let his disappointing spell at Newcastle distract his quality. I’d really like this move.

@FootballOllie

“YES PLEASE!”

@xthfchans

“Thauvin’s injuries and attitude are big red flags but he’s a brilliant player. On a free, depending on the wages he’s after, this might be worth looking into”

@Belgian_Hotspur

“good player, should go after him”

@LetSergeCross

Thauvin, who is currently valued at £28.8 million has a contract at Marseille that is set to expire at the end of June.

Looking at the replies to this post, it appears that these Spurs fans would be happy to see their club make a move for the Frenchman this summer if they can get him on a cheap deal.

Would you like to see Spurs make a move for Thauvin this summer?

No

In our view, if Spurs could secure Thauvin on a free transfer this summer then it could be a smart piece of business from the north London club, particularly considering the current state of their finances.

However, with Thauvin only managing to score one goal during the 16 appearances he made for Newcastle United during his time with the Tyneside club, it could be considered a gamble – so perhaps Spurs should think twice before making a move to bring the player back to England.
