Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest transfer update surrounding Gareth Bale from football journalist Fabrizio Romano.

This comes after Spurs-focused Twitter account @Daily_Hotspur shared a post on their page relaying news originally revealed by Romano in an article for BenchWarmers.

Test your knowledge of these Tottenham players' market values! How much do you think Hugo Lloris is worth?

In the article, Romano said that there are “very few chances” for Bale to stay at Tottenham beyond his current loan deal from Real Madrid.

Romano added that Bale’s hefty wages will make it unlikely for Spurs to try and work out a deal with the Spanish club to keep hold of the Welshman on a permanent basis.

This post then gathered a lot of replies from Tottenham fans who were not shy in sharing their thoughts on this latest news.

So, what did these Spurs fans have to say in response to this latest transfer news from Romano about Bale?

“He should leave please”

@Bismark02580734

“Don’t want him anyway”

@ChazReal14

“Absolutely fine. Shame he couldn’t get anywhere near a quality level but money for wages will be spent better (hopefully) elsewhere.”

@Rory4Spurs

“Good”

@Omkar6152

“Vamooooooooooooos!!! Get Gonzalez or Dybala in ASAP”

@perry_thfc27

“Play him in every game until the rest of the season and he would prove this to be a stupid decision. The guy is still a class above the majority of the Premier League. He needs faith shown in him and a consistent run and he would be getting high-level numbers.”

@philthfc

Looking at the replies to this post, it seems that the majority of these Spurs fans would not be too bothered if their club didn’t make an attempt to sign Bale on a permanent deal when his current loan spell with the Lilywhites expires at the end of the season.

Do you think Spurs should try and sign Bale permanently this summer?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Given how Bale, who is currently valued at £18 million, recently revealed that his plan is to return to Real Madrid in the summer, then perhaps it would be pointless for the club to try and sign him when he apparently has no intentions of staying with Jose Mourinho’s side.
