Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting on Twitter to quotes from Ipswich Town coach Matt Gill on loanee striker Troy Parrott.

Ipswich beat Accrington Stanley 2-1 on Tuesday night, a game in which Parrott started and won his side a penalty, but the on-loan striker was not allowed to take the spot-kick, which was missed by James Norwood.

Following the game, Gill spoke to the media regarding the 19-year-old striker, who is yet to open his goalscoring account for the Tractor Boys despite having played 510 minutes of football for the side.

“I’m desperate for Troy to get a goal but he’s done so well for us. His work rate is absolutely fantastic and the quality is there for everyone to see,” Gill told the Ipswich website.

Tottenham fans showed a mixed response to the quotes from the Ipswich coach, some suggesting Parrott should have been given the penalty, whilst others expressed their concerns at his lack of goals.

“You didn’t let him take the pen he won and gave it so someone who missed???”

It is clear some Spurs fans are still to be convinced by Parrott as a result of his lack of goals this season whilst out on loan, however, it is also apparent some fans still hold hope he can get off the mark and make a future for himself at Tottenham.
