In Jose Mourinho’s latest press conference, the Portuguese boss revealed that right-back Aurier should be fit enough to return for Tottenham’s next game against Crystal Palace, while midfielder Lo Celso may not return until midweek.
The Ivory Coast international defender has been much improved throughout the current campaign, with his displays drawing many plaudits, however, former Paris Saint-German man Lo Celso has had his season blighted by injury issues.
Now though, after over two months on the treatment table, Spurs’ South American star is closing in on a return to first-team action. The pair’s recovery clearly had the north London outfit’s supporters excited:
“Anyone but Doherty at right back”
“Phew, thank you”
“I never thought I’d say I prefer Aurier over anyone else, but I’d pick him on a bad day over Doherty.”
“GIO BACK OMG TOP 4 AND CARABAO CUP ARE IN THE BAG LADS”
“Hoping Gio gets 30 minutes on Thursday, hopefully the same in the NLD, then 60 minutes away to Zagreb. Gonna be super crucial to have him back”
“Praise the lord”
Aurier’s improvement this season has been one of the biggest surprises in an incredibly unpredictable campaign. However, Giovani Lo Celso has only managed to achieve a rating of 6.56 in the Premier League so far this season, which puts him as the 15th highest rated player at Spurs.
