It was their last game before the international break and they came out on the wrong end of the crucial six-pointer, leaving them sat perilously close to the bottom of the table and gave Newcastle United fans another chance to demonstrate their anger towards the club for putting them in this situation.
And speaking in an interview with NUFC TV (quoted by The Chronicle), the Spaniard, on a reported £35,000 per week, spoke about the atmosphere in the dressing room that night, and how motivated the players are to put that right:
“Obviously the atmosphere after missing out on that opportunity and losing 3-0, well it was tough to take and everybody realised that. But everybody is working really hard right now because we know that every one of those nine games are going to be difficult and we have to give everything in them.”
Those words, however, fell on deaf ears when they were relayed to fans on the Newcastle United – Chronicle Facebook page, as the fans wanted to see action from them rather than words:
Let’s see if this message from the fans gets across to the players better than Manquillo’s did.
