Newcastle United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest news concerning Toon midfielder Elliot Anderson.

This comes after Newcastle journalist Lee Ryder recently shared a post on his official Twitter page saying that Anderson “hasn’t taken long to make an impression” whilst on international duty with England U19s this week.

Starting with a relatively recent player. Who is this?

Ryder then added that Anderson will start in the number 10 role in an upcoming friendly match against Arsenal’s U23s before ending his tweet by saying that he has heard that Anderson has “really shone” in training this week with the squad.

This post then gathered a lot of replies from Newcastle fans who were quick to share their response to Ryder’s post.

So, what did these Newcastle fans have to say in response to Ryder’s latest Twitter post about Anderson?

“Having a gem like this in our youth system but we play Jeff Hendrick over him”

@NUFC_LEW

“our starboy”

@nufcrichys

If we do get relegated, this lad simply has to start, week in, week out. @elljanderson #NUFC

@ToonMouthTyne

Could be an important player in the championship next year.#nufc

@jonniegrieve

Shame our manager doesn’t see it! #bruceout #nufc

@Wig82

“Keeping a hold of him is what we need to do…. one for the future!”

@LewisBr52003707

“Can only mean one thing…he’s on his way out of the club to have a successful career elsewhere”

@WallsendGeordie

“Mental how he’s not getting a chance in the first team”

@DillonSwan07

The 18-year-old central-midfielder, who is currently valued at £180k, made his senior debut for Steve Bruce’s side back in January in their FA Cup defeat against Arsenal and made just one other appearance for the club since (per Transfermarkt).

Do you think Anderson should have been a regular squad player for Newcastle this season?

Yes

No

No

Looking at the replies to this post, it’s clear to see that these Newcastle fans think very highly of Anderson and think the club should keep hold of him for as long as possible so he can become an integral part of the squad for the future.

With Newcastle currently just two points clear of the relegation zone, if they end the season being relegated to the Championship, there’s every possibility that Anderson could become a regular figure in the team, which would please some of these Toon fans.
