Speaking exclusively to GiveMeSport, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly came close to joining Manchester last summer.

“Last summer he was really close to Manchester City. His agent is strong with Premier League clubs.”

A move to ’s top flight in the near future could still be possible for £45m-rated Koulibaly. According to Football Insider, have set their sights on signing the 29-year-old in a move that could reunite him with Carlo Ancelotti.

As for Manchester City, Guardiola is likely to target a centre-forward this time round following the news that Sergio Aguero will be leaving the club at the end of the season.
